Dissident Island Radio

Feb 23, 2009

For this show Dissident Island and the London Freeschool teamed up to bring you an hour long panel discussion exploring the causes and potential outcomes of the current economic crisis.

Joining us on the panel were David Graeber from Goldsmiths University, Jody Boehnert from Brixton Transition Towns, Bill Ears (a late addition to the panel), and Caroline Sinclair from the SouthBank Coop. The show also featured audience particiation, so we had a lively discussion of a wide range of topics.

In the show we aimed to explore the causes of the meltdown, it’s social and economic impacts and spaces opened up for alternatives, if any, in the current climate.

At either end of the panel discussion there were interviews from Nicholas Hildyard from the Corner House, and Simon Chouff from Escanda. The show was finished off by a credit crunching drum n bass set from our good friend Dj Dirt.
